Behind the Name:
The name Intrepid has military and aerospace association. Because the majority of our coatings are aerospace, military & government specs, we wanted a name that had ties to the industry in which we serve. A World War II aircraft carrier was named USS Intrepid. There is also a well-known museum in New York named Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Not only does the name have association within our industry but “Intrepid” is characterized by resolute fearlessness, fortitude and endurance. It describes an action that is bold and brave. By definition, Intrepid means to be fearless, undaunted, unflinching, audacious, dynamic, spirited, bold and heroic. We want to be intrepid in our faith as we seek to serve not only our Lord but our community and our industry.

At Intrepid Coatings our desire is to honor the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Intrepid Coatings has endured and has been successful over the years. We strive to glorify God by being faithful stewards of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all whom we engage in business with.
We strive to honor the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, thereby treating others with respect and dignity; operating our firm with integrity and honesty.
History:
Intrepid Coatings first began business on May 2nd 2008. Intrepid Coatings acquired the Griggs Paint brand name on November 12th, 2008.
Intrepid Coatings supplies sophisticated aircraft coatings to Garrett Turbine Engine, Honeywell, GSA, and many other Aerospace companies for use on military and commercial aircraft. Current customers include local municipalities, The State of Arizona, Maricopa County, Motorola, and Arizona Dept. of Corrections.
Intrepid Coatings built a brand new, state of the art facility in 2013, and moved in April 1st.
Griggs Paint was in existence from 1945 to 2008, when Intrepid bought the Griggs Paint brand name. Griggs Paint began manufacturing paints and coatings in 1978. It began with inexpensive steel primers, latex trade systems, and then branched out into epoxies, urethanes, industrial enamels, water-reducible coatings, and current “Low VOC” systems.
Intrepid Coatings is happy to continue the tradition that Griggs Paint began by supplying quality paints and coatings for affordable prices. From architectural coatings to aerospace coatings, and everything in between, if you have a need for a coating, we can make it!
